Over at A Fistful of Euros, Douglas Muir manages another success with his overview of the seven islands and archipelagos (four French, two Portuguese, one Spanish) which are part of the European Uniondespite their extra-European geography. Their European culture, and more importantly continued European sovereignty, is key. Their relative success as ultra-peripheral territories of the European Union provides the precedents for Cape Verde hopes of a European Union affiliation of its own.
