[MUSIC] Kate Bush, "King of the Mountain"
Sep. 22nd, 2005 10:27 amI've just downloaded the first new Kate Bush single in a dozen years, "King of the Mountain". No, I can't tell you how I've gotten it--if you don't belong to the right communities, that's your choice.
First impressions? I was afraid that this new album, twelve years after The Red Shoes, might not live up to its reputation, that she waited too long. If this single is at all representative of the new material, we've nothing to fear. There's her restrained vocals, there's interesting gamelan-like percussion at the beginning and itneresting keyboard parts, and the very nice sense of dramatic sweep that we've all come to expect from Kate.
She's back.
