[NON BLOG] Run-ins
Oct. 6th, 2005 12:07 pmI'd expected to meet up with
heraclitus at Robards Library; in fact, I'd planned that. I hadn't planned on intercepting first
schizmatic then
larkvi, though I can't claim to be surprised that humanities students at the Unviersity of Toronto might actually go to their library once or twice a year. A variety of interesting topics were discussed: the relative merits of Greek and Latin, the dubious dividing line between the medieval era and the Renaissance, the need for a viable anarchism in our urban future to be based on some sort of transhumanist technology, the dark side of Canada (Third World nuclear proliferation, fascism and eugenics, anti-Semitism and structural racism) and the Heidegger anthology Pathways.
We ended up heading around 9:30 to Sushi on Bloor (515 Bloor Street West) for some food. This restaurant's menu listed some interesting options, but I opted for #64, their Sushi Bronze. I've no complaints at all about the food, though their tables are (apparently notoriously) shaky.
