[URBAN NOTE] A Man in Love
Oct. 12th, 2005 08:27 pmAfter I took my seat, I saw that a man and a woman were sitting across from me, talking. The man, wearing glasses and with a bit of a double chin, was sitting to my right, clasping the woman's hand with his right hand and holding a book, bound in red leather, in his left.
As they talked, I noticed the gold-embossed pages and thought it a Bible. But then, I noticed that he was holding the book closed, spine to his right, almost as if its text was to be read from right to left. I stood up from my seat and moved closer to the guy, looking down, and there was inscribed the book title in large Hebrew with small Latin-script English capital letters underneath.
I think that I overheard him saying that he'd gotten it from his mother, a family heirloom. "She gave it to you for a report?" she asked, with just a bit of disbelief.
