From Deann Alford's November 2005 article in Christianity Today, "Mobs Expel 80 Christians":

Huichol mobs wielding machetes and clubs in western Mexico's Jalisco state have expelled 80 evangelicals from Agua Fria village, threatening to burn the Christians and refusing to allow their return unless they recant their faith. The mobs reacted against evangelicals' shunning of Huichol native religion, which encourages taking hallucinogenic peyote.

Not to understate the seriousness of this persecution, but since when did Roman Catholics--even syncretic Roman Catholics--stop being Christians? One might think that if one's trying to publicize an important cause, one won't be gratuitously and needlessly offensive towards everyone who isn't of your kind.
