5. If we don't want to have to fall in with either Trumpist America, mainland China or Putinist Russia, the EU might be Canada's best option. And if we can get Australia and NZ/Aetaeroa on board as well...?

I find it surprising that Turtledove didn't mention Robert Sobel's For Want of a Nail, which I thought was the touchstone for alt-American Revolutions.
