Camp Buchan is largely located on second-generation forest, an ecosystem that formed after the land the Scout camp was located on stopped being used for farming. In turn, many of the further outposts of the Camp, especially the cabins located in the camp's interior and the large common areas of grass carved out of the woods, have been following their environment's suit.
Twilight was coming as I took these photos, and I experimented with camera settings a bit here. Opinions on the effects are eagerly solicited.

I've long been involved in Prince Edward Island's Scouting movement, as a Scout in my own right and as the son of a scoutmaster. On my trip last summer to Prince Edward Island, I joined my parents in visiting Camp Buchan, Prince Edward Island's only scout camp.
Located on the Island shore of the Northumberland Strait roughly a half-hour's drive southeast of Charlottetown, Camp Buchan is a beautiful place. This August day I was particularly lucky, since it was low tide. So much more was revealed.

[PHOTO] My Kananaskis jacket
Aug. 19th, 2009 09:51 amAs an enthusiastic participant in the various Scouts Canada program until 1995, I attended in 1993 the 8th Canadian Jamboree held in Alberta's Kananaskis Country area in the Rocky Mountains.
Like other Scouts, I brought badges to trade. There were a dozen Prince Edward Island Scouts, and a thousand times as many Scouts from around the country and even the world. A lot of people wanted to collect badges from all ten Canadian provinces.
That's where and when I learned about supply and demand. Did I do well!
