Avonlea Village was never an actual village. It was only created two decades ago, as a pedestrian-friendly imagining of what an idealized sort of turn-of-the-century village on Prince Edward Island it might look like. This effect it achieves quite well: the designers should be proud of their success in making a friendly space of shops and entertainment out of a Cavendish field.
